Ultimate BMW Barn Find: 1600 with a 5-speed and 2002 engine | Barn Find Hunter

Tom Cotter’s still up in Maine in this latest series of Barn Find Hunter, and it’s still delivering some fantastic cars and even better people.

Cruising around the beautiful Boothbay Harbor, Tom spots a Triumph Stag. As he notes, it’s probably not economically viable to restore in a place where old British car parts aren’t necessarily plentiful, but while scoping out the Stag, his enquiries lead him to another individual with an interesting collection – and that’s the focus of this video.

Tom meets up with Kerry – a restaurant owner with an infectious personality and, judging by the contents of his garage, a taste for European cars and motorcycles. The pair first check out Kerry’s 1977 Alfa Romeo Spider, off the road for around a decade but still in good shape, before moving on to his BMW 02-series, technically a 1600 but wearing a 2002 badge on the back and its 2-litre engine. The BMW needs a little work, but Kerry has big plans to get it back on the road.

Then they head over to a garage containing a few two-wheelers, including some beautiful modern-classic Ducatis (we spy what appears to be one of the Ducati 916 derivatives, a late nineties-early 2000s Supersport, and an early nineties Supersport), but really Tom’s there to see Kerry’s 150cc Moto-Guzzi.

And, like all good collections, there are a few vehicles also hidden in the woods outside, including a 1960s Chevrolet wagon left by the last owners of the house, and then in a temporary structure, a 1991 Alfa Romeo 164. Whatever your preference from the collection, it’s well worth a watch.
