Why just watch a Bond movie this Christmas when you can re-enact one? That’s the question that five 007-loving Aston Martin fans will be asking themselves as they take delivery of the first James Bond DB5 Goldfinger Continuation cars.

A total of 25 of the gadget-packed Bond cars are to be built at cost of more than £3 million apiece, and Aston Martin gathered the first five together for a photo shoot, before shipping them off to their new owners in Europe, America and the Middle East.

Each car is an exact replica of the most famous car in the world, the Aston Martin DB5 featured in the 1964 Sean Connery smash Goldfinger. The Q-devised armoury includes a bullet-proof rear shield, extendable battering rams, rotating number plates, and an oil and smoke spray system. The headlight machine guns don’t shoot and neither is an ejector seat included – although we can’t help but wonder whether one wealthy wag won’t take the opportunity to have the system retro-fitted.

The DB5 takes 4500 hours to build and is powered by a 294bhp, four-litre, six-cylinder engine, and even though all 25 have been sold you won’t see one on the road as the Goldfinger DB5s are not road legal.
