Classic racing fans will be chuffed to hear that Goodwood has announced the dates for all three of its motorsports events in 2021.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the annual Members’ Meeting, Festival of Speed, and Goodwood Revival were all merged into a behind-closed-doors SpeedWeek that was streamed online for enthusiastic audiences across the globe.

Crowds will flock to the famous Sussex circuit for the first time in two years on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May 2021 to witness the 78th Members’ Meeting. This special event is open only to members of the Goodwood Road & Racing Club and their guests. It costs £39 to join as a Fellow, while full membership of the club is £235 for a year. Highlights of the Members’ Meeting include the SF Edge Trophy for Edwardian era racers and the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 touring cars from 1970-81 which pits Minis against Mustangs among many other classic tin top racers.

Two months later, from 8-11 July the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard will move the action to the Goodwood estate and its famous 1.16-mile hillclimb. The event’s theme will be The Maestros – Motorsport’s Greatest All-Rounders and will celebrate drivers, teams and manufacturers who have competed across multiple disciplines. Mario Andretti who won in Formula 1, IndyCar, World Sportscars and NASCAR has already confirmed his attendance, saying, “Goodwood in July sounds wonderful to me right now. I welcome the invitation and look forward to being there for the third time. It is truly one of the most fan-friendly motorsports events. A very unique jewel. There is simply nothing like it on the planet.”

Goodwood 2021 dates

Rounding off the racing season will be the return of the Goodwood Revival on 17–19 September. The weekend is a step back in time to the golden age of Goodwood from 1948 to 1966 and visitors are encouraged to dress in period costume as they cheer on participants in classic open wheel and touring cars.

The Duke of Richmond is delighted to be opening his gates to fans again. “We are thrilled to be able to announce that all three motorsport events are planned to be back next year. Thank you to all our loyal followers who either rolled over their tickets or joined the Goodwood Supporters’ Association, which helped us immeasurably in a very tough year. We absolutely cannot wait to see them and plenty of new fans in 2021,” he said.

Anyone who can’t attend in person will be glad to know that each weekend’s racing antics will be live streamed on the Goodwood Road & Racing website and social media channels. Roll on 2021.
