The Geneva Motor Show is back for 2024

Let the cowbells ring! Europe’s biggest auto show is returning to Switzerland next year.

The 2024 Geneva International Motor Show will run from February 26 to March 3, having last been held in 2019. The 2020 event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so it will be four years since the Palexpo convention center last opened its doors to auto enthusiasts.

The news was announced in Qatar, which, bizarrely, has just hosted its own Geneva-branded show, after the Middle-Eastern nation’s tourists board did a ten-year deal to hold a show in Doha. Around 30 car makers attended this year’s event, making it a fraction of the size of the Swiss show.

For 2024 the event’s organisers are reportedly providing ready-made stands for carmakers and other exhibitors, and have confirmed that the venue is fully paid-for to assuage any fears of further cancellation.

The show is set to feature themed areas including an Innovation Pavillion for motor manufacturers and tech firms to display their latest developments, a Design District will focus on automotive craftsmanship, there’ll be a Zero Emission Zone to showcase sustainable transport and an Adrenaline Zone will show off the latest high performance cars.

Dating back to 1905 the Geneva Show has a rich history of reveals, including the Lamborghini Countach LP400 which made its debut in 1974. With 50 years to celebrate in 2024 the Lamborghini stand will certainly be one to watch.
