Northamptonshire: 1st November 2022

Hagerty continues its established partnership of the RM Sotheby’s London to Brighton Veteran Car Run with the 2022 event, taking place on Sunday 6th November.

Hagerty will participate using in its own 1903 Knox, now a regular participant in the run, driven by Hagerty International Managing Director Mark Roper and TV star and Hagerty Ambassador Paul Cowland.

Paul and Mark previously partnered for the 2021 run, and it was quite the experience for Paul as he noted after the event. “There are around 6 asthmatic horses residing within the Knox powerhouse, with the ability to open up the exhaust baffles to liberate an additional small foal to assist on the hills. Throttle is controlled by your left hand, the right-hand pedal is a braking system, and what you might think would be the clutch – is actually reverse gear.”

As Hagerty is an Official Partner of the Participants’ Reception, Mark Roper has the honour of presenting the Hagerty Achievement Award to the chosen winners at the event, which is held on the Saturday night prior to the run. In addition, Hagerty branding will be prominently displayed on the start totem in central London, at the participants’ halfway rest stop, and within the participants’ hospitality area situated on Madeira Drive in Brighton.

Hagerty International Managing Director Mark Roper added “To partner an event with the history and heritage of the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is an honour for Hagerty. We celebrate global car culture, and the pioneering vehicles that participate in the London to Brighton run are responsible for starting our global love of cars. I look forward to piloting the Hagerty Knox alongside Paul Cowland and enjoying, once again, the warm greetings and cheers of the thousands who line the streets to watch these great cars pass by.”

The London to Brighton Veteran Car Run is the world’s longest-running motoring event, the first run taking place in 1896 to celebrate the Locomotives on Highways Act 1896, which liberalised motor vehicle laws in the United Kingdom.
