Hagerty partners with Markel for UK insurance business

  • UK agreement follows 10-year partnership between both brands in the US

Hagerty is best known as a classic vehicle insurer, but with a 600,000-member strong Drivers Club, a magazine with 1.9m readers, more than 1m monthly unique users visiting its Media site and 1.4m subscribers on YouTube, it is one of the world’s largest automotive lifestyle brands.

Today Hagerty announces a new UK insurance partnership with Markel International Insurance Company Limited, a long-standing, family-founded business which has been an underwriting partner for the Hagerty classic and collector vehicle program in the United States since 2011. Markel has a US headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, and a UK office within the famous ‘Walkie Talkie’ building in central London, mirroring Hagerty’s own US and UK operations.

Both companies complement each other with a shared commitment to client care and a mutual desire to provide the very highest levels of insurance cover. In addition, Markel wholly understands Hagerty’s growth goals and strategic objectives allowing for rapid expansion and agile product development. Markel joins existing Hagerty partner Aviva to create a stronger product offering to UK clients.

Hagerty’s partnership with Markel creates an improved range of client benefits, including the ability to insure modern classic collector vehicles. The agility and adaptability of Markel also allows for greater flexibility within policy terms and conditions allowing for the creation of truly tailor-made policies to perfectly suit the needs of the client. As a result, Hagerty can now welcome more collectors and enthusiasts to enjoy the lifestyle behind the wheel of their chosen vehicle.
