Northamptonshire: 20th September 2021

Hagerty enjoyed a hugely successful Goodwood Revival with a stand situated in the popular ‘over the road’ section of the event. Star of the stand was a stunningly restored, original right-hand drive Lamborghini Miura S originally owned by the Sultan of Brunei. The bright green paintwork drew the crowds throughout the weekend, who stayed to enjoy the relaxing atmosphere with period sweets and drinks on offer to clients and guests alike.

Jack Butcher, President of Hagerty, was present at the show throughout the weekend to meet with Hagerty clients and partners, as well as to enjoy his first visit to Goodwood Revival. Guests at the stand had a unique opportunity to meet and chat with the full Hagerty team with many taking the opportunity to question Butcher about Hagerty’s global approach to cars and car culture and the company’s desire to safeguard the pleasures of driving for generations to come.

A stone’s throw from the Hagerty stand was the highly anticipated Goodwood Revival auction, hosted by Bonhams. John Mayhead, UK Hagerty Price Guide Editor, provided analysis of the lots in detail and reported the live auction as it happened. His full report can be read here, with stars of the show including a 1971 Iso Grifo selling for £345,000 and a1931 Bentley 4-litre selling for an incredible £603,000 – more than double its pre-sale estimate.

There was plenty of action on track too, with Hagerty brand ambassadors Steve Parrish, James Wood and Maria Costello all racing throughout the weekend. While Steve raced on two-wheels and James on four, Maria hopped from car to bike, a first for a female racer at the Goodwood Revival event. Maria teamed up with Gordon Russell on a 1961 Norton Manx 30M in the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy race, and Richard Colburn to share a 1953 MG YB in the St Mary’s Trophy.

“I always feel so privileged to be invited to compete at the Revival. I adore the nostalgia and heritage that is brought to life. I didn’t think it could get any better but having the opportunity to race both two and four wheels has done that,” said Costello.

Steve Parrish also raced a Norton Manx 30M, though his was a 1962 model, in the Barry Sheene Memorial motorcycle race, mixing it on the track with two-wheeled stars such as Michael Dunlop, Troy Corser and James Haydon to an 11th place finish in Saturday’s race.

James Wood steered a beautiful 1959 Lotus-Climax in the Sussex Trophy race to an 8th place finish ahead of Martin Brundle, who finished in 9th position driving a 1955 Jaguar D-Type ‘Long Nose’.

Hagerty UK Editor James Mills, praised the Goodwood Revival team. “After the challenges of the past two years, Goodwood delivered a world-class event for car enthusiasts, fans of vintage aviation, culture vultures and families. There was so much to see, do and experience. All the team at Hagerty were delighted to spend time with the thousands of visitors that flocked to our stand to catch sight of the acid-green Lamborghini Miura, and we’ll never tire of talking cars and bikes with fellow enthusiasts. The hobby goes from strength to strength and everyone at Hagerty is delighted to be part of such a welcoming, inclusive community.”
