1984 Porsche 924

The Porsche 924S was in production from 1986 until 1988, and is a two-door, four-seat, rear-engine coupe.

The 924 was originally the joint project of Volkswagen and Porsche, created by the Vertriebsgesellschaft (distribution company), the joint sales and marketing company funded by Porsche and VW to market and sell sports cars for Volkswagen. It was intended to be that company's flagship coupe sports car and was named "Project 425" during its development. For Porsche, it was to be its entry-level sports car replacing the 914.

The 924S boasts a 2.5-litre straight-four engine, with 163 horsepower, upgrading the engine but retaining the suspension of the 924. It has a top speed of a little over 120mph.

The Porsche 924S is a thrill to drive. Despite its age, it can be thrown around corners with abandon, can redline and can endure heavy usage of the brakes. The steering is sharp, allowing the driver to feel the road through their hands and their feet. A problem with the driving of the 924S is that at high-speed, the handling can feel light.

Parts for the 924S are readily available on the internet, so maintaining your Porsche should not be too challenging. It also boasts good reliability as an added bonus.

The 924S has unfortunately not appreciated well. For the good reliability and pleasurable driving experience, you will not pay a lot for the car, nor will you get a lot back if you try to sell it.
