Lancia 2000 1971 - 1975

The Lancia 2000 is a saloon and coupe introduced in the UK to replace the Lancia Flavia LX (which in reality it was a facelifted version of). It used the 1991cc flat four-cylinder OHV engine driving the front wheels. The Saloon was introduced first in July 1971, with the Pininfarina Coupe and the Coupe HF arriving in May 1972. At the same time fuel injection was offered on the saloon as an option, with an 'IE' design on the grille and all models were given a five-speed gearbox as standard. All models were discontinued in the UK in February 1975.

The Lancia 2000 was the first model released since Fiat took over the company, and it is a competent and rare car in the UK. The coupes have stood the test of time well, especially the high-performance HF models, but all models had high levels of trim and robust mechanicals. As with most Italian cars of the era, rust is a big problem: check everywhere. The high-pressure fuel injection system can leak too, so make sure that is checked and any worn items replaced.

Other period alternatives include the Alfa 2000 Berlina, the Fiat 124 Sport Coupe and the Fiat Dino Coupe.
